The man, I do assure you is not here,
For I myself at this time have employed him.
And, Sheriff, I will engage my word to thee
That I will by tomorrow dinner time
Send him to answer thee or any man
For any thing he shall be charged withal.
And so let me entreat you leave the house.

PRINCE HENRY
I promise you, that man isn’t here, since he’s currently running an errand for me. Sheriff, I give you my word that by lunchtime tomorrow I’ll send him to you, or anyone else you need to see. He’ll answer to anything he may be accused of. So please, I’d like you to leave this tavern.

SHERIFF
I will, my lord. There are two gentlemen
Have in this robbery lost three hundred marks.

SHERIFF
I will, my lord. There are also two gentlemen who, in this robbery, lost three hundred marks.

PRINCE HENRY
It may be so. If he have robbed these men,
He shall be answerable; and so farewell.

Falstaff!— (pulls back the arras) Fast asleep behind the
arras, and snorting like a horse.

Hark, how hard he fetches breath. Search his pockets.
